Stefanie Kercher, a Letter to Launch a Fund

Ooops, sorry Steffy, I didn’t mean to embarrass you by revealing that you messaged Mez to watch out because a girl had been killed in Perugia. But I’m glad if that brought you to open your heart to the public a little bit (after four years!), and tell them, in your letter, how you lived that day.
You don’t need to be measured, to be controlled, to be secretive, as you looked to be for so long: you are among friends. You’ve got millions of friends in the world. At least, they are trying to remain so.
Those who were hugging and kissing and escorting you through the trial, instead, those are your enemies, those are your ruin. Look what a disaster they created, they ruined the lovebirds’ life, they ruined all those judges who trusted them, the Italians who have to pay millions of costs, and even you… They are the specialists in ruining people’s lives…
But now, Steffy, the fair of illusions is over. England understood.
People will help you because not only you lost Mez, you have even been deceived and your family spent all its money on a losing horse.
BUT: should people send you money because you want to APPEAL? Sending you money to fund an injustice? Sending you money for you to help frame a girl and a boy who don’t have anything to do with that? Wasting money to try to ruin two more lives? Are you serious, Steffy? It’s even useless, since they are completely innocent, and can never be condemned.
It’s a bad story, Steffy, those are bad people, dangerous people. Stay away of them, Steffy, people would hate seeing you as their accomplice. People would like to love you, not to hate you, and want to see you living your life and having fun, not cultivating vendetta, and towards the wrong persons too! They are already starting to say that you do it for money. Most people have figured out what happened, it’s not possible that only you are still there with those fantasies of two lovebirds turning into assassins. Maybe they are right in saying you do it for money. Of course, Rudi is broke!
England has intelligence, Steffy, better not to fool people. I wouldn’t like you to unchain a wave of hate. It would be against you this time. And that risks involving Mez too in the end.
People get enchanted by angelic faces and get touched by tearful stories. Up to a point.
You can make them cry once… twice. Then, if there’s a mask, they are able to see it. If a City broker knocks at your door and proposes a clever trust fund, they will figure it out (hope is not the same one who went to the McCains…).
Hope you appreciate that we are trying to help, one last time. Then, it’s up to you…

Bravo Frank! The truth hurts and it is blatently obvious that this family has been lied to for 4 years. Yet, they still refuse to see the truth when it is right in front of their faces. I mean no disrespect to the Kerchers. However, they won’t have peace until they accept the truth. How could they possibly still have faith in Maresca?
They probably still have faith in Maresca for the same reason Jim Jones’ followers drank that cool-aid.

Excellent post. I have always believed the Kerchers were victimized by the prosecution and Maresca. They cannot find closure in their grief, because they have been misled, and cannot grasp that the one responsible has been brought to justice. I pray the Supreme Court will make this abundantly clear.
Frank is right Stefanie. I am so sorry that you lost your wonderful sister and I am certain no words by me can ever assuage your anguish. But this journey you attempt now will be fruitless for you.
It is a great tragedy that you lost Mez but it is made even worse because you and your family have been deceived by those who appear as sheep to you. The two leaders have different motives than those they describe for you. If you were looking you will have recognized it. You will have noticed the attempts to hide certain truths. Some points they argue seem at odds with finding out what really happened… not because you are missing some point but that your point is correct…they don’t really seek the truth for you.
Otherwise you would know everything about the stain on the pillow and case. You would understand that Rudy was a known problem in Perugia and you would know that in the week or two before Meredith was murdered that the police had him. They had a chance to put him in jail but for some reason they did not.
He was robbing a nursery school. They found in his possession a stolen computer, a cell phone, a ladies gold watch, money, and a tool used to break windows, and also a large knife. But the police let him go from that Milan robbery and put him on a train back to Perugia. Why?
And in that same month Oct 2007 Rudy was caught inside another mans home and the man woke up and confronted Rudy. Did you know that Rudy pulled out his knife and forced the man aside so that he could escape? And its important to know that the police failed to come to this mans house when he called them and so Rudy was again allowed to be free.
It is what they are hiding from you…and from the world. They had the chance to arrest Rudy but they did not. It is the motive to create this wild unbelievable case …to hide the truth with this smoke screen of crazy ideas and it is why there is no evidence to back it up. Just words …witch, she devil, temptress. Are these words proof? This failure to protect your sister is what they are afraid will become public.
Your lawyer has shown himself to be someone who will say and do anything but not for truth or justice or because he cares about your feelings. He wants to take your money. And he was willing to display to the world, against your wish, the photos of Merediths nude tortured body and it can not be a mistake as he claims because… ask yourself….did he stop after one or two? NO! His desire was shock and there can be no mistake about it. The prosecution had already used these photos …it was unnecessary and tasteless and transparent to those who have followed this case. Ask him why they allowed Guede to get off with only 16 years. He seeks your money. He does not seek any truth.
All the truth is known about how and why your dear sister was killed. She had the misfortune to return home during a burglary in progress and something caused this burglar Rudy Guede to lose control and he killed her. He did not try to save her. According to his own adoptive family Rudy is a compulsive liar and will say anything. He used the towels not to save Mez but to hide his tracks to the bathroom.
The details of this case have been studied by experts from around the world. The truth is available for you if you wish it.
I am sorry for your loss and I hope that you and your family can recover from this torture forced onto you by those who wish to hide the mistakes they made. And sorry about the great deceiver who is after your money. It is clear… if you can just step back a bit and let the confusing smoke fade.

The Kerchers have been under a delusion these past 4 years reinforced by an erroneous 2009 verdict and (likely) the people they paid to “help” them. Their entire world view flipped upside down on Oct 3 and they need time to come to grips with the verdict. They also need time to read and understand the forthcoming motivation document. I hope they come to understand what was possible and what was impossible that night they lost Meredith. I hope they figure out if people they trusted have not been telling them the truth. I hope they find peace.
Frank, I’ve got to tell you, I think you’re seriously over reacting to Stefanie Kercher’s comment. Surely she and her family know they cannot raise money to influence a decision by a supreme court and that is not what she said. Certainly there should be a Meredith Kercher Memorial Fund, and if it’s for families who find themselves in crisis when abroad, that’s a very good idea.
The Sollecito family have already reached out to the Kerchers. If they have been rebuffed, they understand that family’s grief. Eventually the Kerchers will see who their friends are. If they’ve trusted the authorities up until now, that’s perfectly natural, too.
You’ve been at work on the Kercher case from the very beginning and you quickly saw where the chips were falling. You allied yourself not only with the right side but with the side that ultimately won. Much of that victory is owed to your courage. You literally put your body on the line to fight this tyranny and for that I have deep respect you.
So it is with great care that I suggest to you, no matter how mild the sarcasm, it is not good form to mock the family of a murder victim. Allow these people to do what they need to do to lay their tragic relative to rest.
Amanda and Raffaele are free and they are never going back to that prison. Our objective is complete. Let the dead bury the dead.
Actually last night an Italian crew went to interview Arline and Stephanie. And Arline is much more relaxed now…
She said no problem if Amanda celebrates Halloween, Meredith would have done the same. She has changed a lot. You should have seen her at the trial, the hate she had for Amanda and Raffaele…
Stephanie, instead, is still there very controlled. She refused to comment!
I don’t think Frank over reacted and I don’t think he was being sarcastic either, and really it needs to be said. The Kercher’s aren’t helping anything, or anyone, or anyone’s memory, by pursuing two innocent and victimized young people.
The Kerchers DO need to go after the truth of what happened to Meredith, but they need to shake it out of the authorities in Italy who twisted and hid it in the first place. I wish them so much luck with that. That I would contribute to.

Perhaps Steffy is more influenced by her dad. Mr. Kercher is watching every move Amanda makes and has commented publically. For some reason he seems to think he has the right to control what she does. This is not making many people feel the same towards them.

Recently challenged by a guilter who said I should read the truth about the case, I went to the site “true justice for Meredith Kercher” and was surprised to read that he (Mr. Kercher) is in the process of writing a book about Meredith, due out next year.
I found the site to be 100% about the guilt of Amanda..flooded with lies…right up to someone saying that Amanda had an attorney present at all times when she was questioned by police. At that point I went no further..it was useless.
I agree Frank, it is time for them, especially Steffy, to get on with their lives. My father passed away a few days before Meredith died. 26 October 2007. I love him and miss him terribly and always will, but my life had to go on. Granted, it is not my daughter or sister, but it has been 4 long years.
What the Kerchers have been dragged through is so very wrong..in so many ways..but their vendetta towards Amanda doesn’t help them one bit.
I have a feeling Maresca doesn’t WANT them to get on with their lives. He just wants to keep stealing their money. Makes me sick how some of these lawyers want to take advantage of a grieving family.
Actually, I read about the “True Justice” web site in Bruce Fisher’s book and John Kercher had nothing to do with it. All tabloid journalism without an ounce of credibility… and if John is serious about not wanting anyone to make money off of his daughter’s murder he definitely wouldn’t be writing that book.
He’d also be going after all the so-called journalists (like Barbie Nadeau and the weasel-like Nick Pisa) who’ve been making a fortune by defaming his daughter’s flatmate. After all, THEY’RE profiting from Meredith’s murder as well.

On the other hand, I’m pretty sure Stephanie has already seen that info in court. If she saw it again, though, and continued reading it on her own time, maybe then her eyes will slowly open to the truth… but with a lawyer like Maresca to deal with, that’s a task easier said than done.
As Curt Knox once said, the only thing that would really break the ice is for Guede to man up and come clean with the Kerchers. Somehow I don’t think that will ever happen.

Although I’m not sure how the Kerchers would react to the last two, as they discuss a series of wrongful convictions that took place in England… and damaged the entire British legal system’s credibility. Nevertheless, all of the above prove that Italy is not the only country to experience problems in their judicial system. And if the Kurchers don’t want another Gerard Conlon or David Milgaard on their hands…

On the other hand, if the Kerchers are more inclined to believe the guilters who have commented on all these web pages, I can’t see any hope in helping them… yet there seem to be alot more positive comments about A & R than there are negative, and almost every guilter has been refuted many times. So maybe there is hope…
Actually, I just read the “Daily Mirror” article and no mention of Amanda or Raffaele is ever made in Stephanie’s letter. It’s all about justice for Mez. And I remember watching a video of the Kerchers’ press conference about the acquittals and Steffy said something about not wanting the wrong people to go to jail for her sister’s murder.
Sounds like good news for Amanda & Raffaele, right? Well, it would if she wasn’t trusting the wrong people to handle the investigations. That’s where the real issue lies.
As for the newspapers, I’m really not sure if their representation of the Kerchers is entirely accurate. This article by Fox News, for example, appears to have misquoted the letter that was posted in “Daily Mirror”:

Also, let’s not forget the fake $12-million law suit. If the British media can lie about Amanda and Raffaele, they certainly have no reservation about misrepresenting the Kercher family. Still, I’m not putting any money into their trust fund until I know for sure they’re interested in going after the REAL killer.
If true justice were served, Guede would be serving his full 30 years. Maybe that’s why he’s been losing so much sleep over Amanda & Raffaele’s acquittal.
